Who we are

The NCVPA works to advance fair elections and a multiracial, inclusive democracy in North Carolina. We recruit people to serve as election officials, provide legal training, share resources, updates, and voter stories, and help voters whose ballot or registration are at risk. Sign up to learn more about our work – because our state’s elections are only as fair, safe, and accessible as we make them!

What We Do

Strenghten Elections

Our elections system relies on dedicated volunteers to function. Learn more about the different roles and how to sign up!

As a Poll Worker

Poll workers are the people who staff Election Day precincts and Early Voting sites. They perform the actual work of opening and closing the voting site, checking in voters, issuing ballots, and handing out stickers. They also help keep voters safe and ensure that the rules are followed.

Poll workers have different roles within the voting site. This chart from the Cumberland County Board of Elections does a great job explaining the different positions.

You can also contact your county Board of Elections to apply and learn more about where they need help!
